Lenovo this morning launched two new ThinkSystem servers, the SR860 V2 and SR850 V2, utilizing 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors with Intel Deep Learning Boost, along with introduction of GPU support on the SR860 V2 (four double-wide 300W or eight single-wide GPUs). The servers also offer increased NVMe storage capacity for handling AI workloads, high end VDI deployments and data analytics.
The servers also include increased storage from 24 to 48 2.5”2 drives, for accelerated database performance and data ingest, along with the Intel Optane persistent memory 200 series.
Lenovo also announced remote deployment services for the ThinkSystem DM7100 storage systems designed for complex data AI- and analytics-related data management that the company said enables faster implementation and scheduling of on-site deployments.
DM7100 storage enables integrated hybrid cloud data tiering and management of public and private cloud deployments, enabling backup and availability capabilities for analytic workloads, scaling up to 21PB effective storage or scale out to 264 PB of effective storage. Lenovo also said its capable of handling a variety of data to utilize structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, such as cloud data stores, data lakes, smart devices and IoT sensors.
